Chat with Da Mayor

City Seal

Willie L. Brown, Jr. was inaugurated as Mayor of San Francisco on January 8th of this year in what was perhaps the largest party the city has ever seen. Held at Pier 45, the party was open to the city's whole population and an estimated seventy-five thousand people attended. The headlines of the local papers screamed "Da Mayor!" - and the moniker stuck.

"The response from the public has been more like what a rock star gets than a mayor...People embrace him in a way that makes them want to make things work, makes them want to believe"

-Clarence Johnson SF Chronicle, City Hall Bureau Chief

Willie Brown's solid accomplishments and impeccable style attract National attention. In a recent article for The New Yorker, Marshall Frady describes Brown as "a consumate, exhuberant village mayor". Frady goes on to say, "On the whole, Brown has brought a brisk decisiveness into city hall after years of torpor."

Mayor Brown comes to San Francisco from a historic run as the longest serving Speaker of the Assembly of California. Working together with both Republican and Democratic Governors, Willie Brown helped California grow to become the seventh largest economy in the world. Mayor Brown now brings to San Francisco his experience, enthusiasm and dedication to success.
